A Chinese Soldier in The Indian Wars by Thomas P. Lowry

A Chinese Soldier in The Indian Wars

Dozens of Chinese men fought in the Civil War. Afterwards, one of them joined the Regular Army and served thirty years in the Indian Wars, the only Chinese man to do so. Hundreds of hours reading yellowed muster rolls, coupled with interviews of his grand-daughter, have revealed details of his military career, his marriage to a Norwegian girl, and his post-retirement career running a restaurant in Nebraska. Eighteen photographs. Published 2009 in 8.5 by 11 inch format.
